Higley High School junior Brianna Fratella learned this month she is a 2018 Carson Scholar.

The Carson Scholars Fund received hundreds of applications in the fall. Of those, 501 were selected. Each receives a $1,000 scholarship.

These scholarships are awarded to the “country’s best and brightest” for demonstrating “kindness toward others” and academics. Students are selected based on their community service and school achievement. The program started in 1996.

Brianna is looking forward to college, and is considering economics or law school. She is also Higley High’s HOBY (Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership) delegate in summer 2018.
